The Lorentz Transform

Me and my friend Akarsh Simha were browsing through XKCD’s archives and came across this one. Being students of Physics, I thought we should extend this to a Boost too, and here is the result: :-)

  1. Dude, this blog is amazing I never knew Naveen was a poet before browsing this blog.

  2. Well – it wasn’t my idea, though. It was Dr. Suresh’s idea.

Apparently, he gave it as an assignment to the minor guys during his Special Relativity lectures.

  3. Yes, I had given this as a fun part of the assignment for the minor students. It is nice to see someone carry it out. I am used to no one doing ungraded assignments :-)

  4. @SG: But you convert ungraded assignments into quiz and end-sem problems!

  5. @Akarsh: What is wrong with that? That will teach you to solve them next time around :-)

  6. [...] If you have seen this xkcd cartoon for the rotation matrix, here is one for a Lorentz boost (courtesy Naveen Sharma): [...]
